Dietitian by Trade - Mentor by Heart

Devon Jenkins
Registered Dietitian by trade...mentor by heart

I am a God-fearing, Southern girl (by transplant, as my husband says, due to the fact that I was born in Washington State and then lived in Germany for a few years before landing in Kentucky), wife, mom of 2, daughter, sister, friend... and so on!  But to you, I am your door to leading a Purely Nutritious life - and your future bestie!

By trade I am a Registered Dietitian and by heart I am a mentor.  I have worked in a number of atmospheres but one thing has remained constant, my love for walking with people along their journey to creating a better version of themselves.

I started Purely Nutritious, LLC in 2012 with the sole purpose of nutrition counseling.  In the years since, I have come to know more about myself and about what God has called me to do in this life; my husband would likely say that calling is talking!  While I honestly, have very little idea as to what today is going to bring my way... I love the life that I live and I want others to love the life that they live.

Purely Nutritious has grown, in my mind, my heart, and is now growing in this space, into both a breath of fresh air and a kick up the butt, all at the same time.  Let's face it, life can be hard!  However, the hardest part is simply getting out of your own way so that you can experience all that this life has to offer.

You might be asking yourself right now what a dietitian can teach you other than how to prepare a kick ass meal, and honestly I do not know that there is much more than that that I am qualified to teach you.  But, I want to share MY life, MY experiences, MY personal "go-to's" in hopes that I can encourage and motivate you to get out of your own way too!

The purpose of Purely Nutritious is to light a fire within you that pushes you out of your comfort zone and into a better version of you.  While I do believe that our best self starts in the kitchen, I am a dietitian after all, I know the blessing that a morning routine, positive affirmations, intentional movement, and so much more can bring to your life and I aim to help you build these habits and develop your very own version of a Purely Nutritious life.

So where exactly does that whole "future bestie" come into play?  Well, like my husband says... I love to talk and I want to talk to you.  Be sure to say hi and let me know that you are here - whether it is via social media, email, or even working with me.  I want to be friends with you!

I look forward to walking alongside you on this adventure and am truly honored that you are here, now let's get started creating your Purely Nutritious life.

Client Reviews

I have been to a couple of nutritionists in my life. They all gave me what I call a “cookie cutter approach” to what I should be eating. That’s not what I needed and I didn’t find it helpful. Thankfully, I found Devon at Purely Nutritious. She has provided everything I’ve been looking for in a nutritionist. She is nonjudgmental, yet provides me with much needed accountability. She educates me about food and encourages me to make healthy choices.
She is a Whole30 coach as well, and I highly recommend Whole30. It has made such a difference in my life. I have done 3 rounds, have lost 21 pounds, and my bloating, pain, and inflammation have been reduced.
I high recommend Devon. She is very knowledgeable, nonjudgmental, authentic, and genuine in her efforts to help others live a healthy lifestyle.

In June 2018, I had made some small changes in my life already. I had stopped drinking pop and had limited fast food to only when traveling. Yes, I felt these were healthy decisions, but I saw no obvious changes. Then Devon introduced me to Whole30. Through working with Devon, I learned that sugar and dairy were triggers and I became aware of how poorly I felt when using them, I have since continued to limit them in my diet. I am in no way perfect in eating healthy, but I still try to continually make better choices each and every meal.

Devon is passionate about Whole30. When I told her I wanted to do my second Whole30, her response wasn’t just a “Yes, you should do it.” It was a “HECK YES, we are doing this!!” The key word is “we.”  You want the “heck yes, girl” because her excitement is contagious but more importantly it’s the idea that she is doing this alongside you. The “we” matters. Also she is thorough. Devon provides custom menu, recipes, grocery list and meal prep step-by-step. She is willing to go above and beyond so that her Whole30 clients are set-up for success BUT recognizes that this is his / her journey.

It is a blessing to be able to talk to someone about my goals, get a tailored health and nutrition program that will fit into my lifestyle, and make those goals attainable. I know with Devon by my side that every goal is within reach!

With Devon’s guidance, I have completely transformed the way I eat and approach meal time. I used to think eating healthy was restrictive, but through the Whole30 program and with Devon’s guidance, I learned how to incorporate so many new ingredients while also tweaking my favorite recipes into more nutritious meals. The benefits of weight loss, more energy, mental clarity, and better skin are just added bonuses on top of knowing that I am doing what is best for my body in terms of what I put into it. Devon is such a positive and uplifting coach, that I never had any trouble staying on track!

I was very reluctant to do Whole30. I didn’t want to start something I couldn’t finish. With our super crazy, always on the go lifestyle, I was afraid it would not be doable for me. My need to make changes in my eating habits for my mental and physical health finally outweighed my fear and I signed up with Devon to do Whole30 in January. I didn’t really have any digestion issues I just mainly felt like I needed a detox from all of the horrible foods I had been eating. Whole30 was a life changer for me. I have so much more energy, my skin has cleared up and I just feel better about myself, It wasn’t nearly as hard as I was afraid it would be. I ate a large variety of good food and tried to make sure I ate plenty of it so I was never hungry. By the end of the 30 days my sugar cravings had stopped and I was no longer having headaches. I have reintroduced a few things back into my diet, but for the most part, I’m sticking with what I learned during Whole30. I hope to never go back to the horrible habits I had before. I’m so thankful that I finally took the leap and I’m thankful for Devon and her super encouragement along the way!
